"Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life" Wins Best Doc at Israel's Ophir Awards and Plays Newfest Oct. 24 & DC Oct. 26
“Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life” is the new documentary making the film fest rounds and just won Israel’s Ophir Award for Best Documentary. The film played LA’s Outfest and will play this month at Newfest on October 24th https://newfest.org/film/jonathan-agassi-saved-my-life/ and at Reel Affirmations Film Festival in DC on October 26: http://thedccenter.org/events/jonathanagassisavedmylife/
The riveting documentary spans a lengthy span of time of protagonist, Jonathan Agassi who’s newfound porn career leads the performer to win several awards for his work and follows his often x-rated live performances at several global circuit parties where he performs sex acts on stage with some of his hot colleagues. Heymann spent several years following Agassi in Berlin to visiting his Mother in Jonathan’s hometown of Israel. It seems that nothing is off limits with Agassi as we get an inside look at his fractured relationship with his father as well as an apologetic view of Agassi’s drug use and introduction into escorting.
“Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life” is a rollercoaster ride for anyone who watches this encapsulating film. Agassi gave director Heymann full access to this snapshot of Agassi’s life that includes many highs and huge successes as well as major downfalls where Agassi appears to be spiraling out of control. The raw and honest portrait of Agassi plays more like a narrative film than a documentary.
